What a life coach is NOT

Coaching is not a substitute for Counseling/Therapy

A life coach is not a licensed mental health professional (unless they specify otherwise and can provide proof of licensure). Life coaches need to refer you (their client) to a licensed mental health professional if issues arise that need to be addressed by a licensed mental health professional (trauma, depression, etc.)

Coaching is not a substitute for medical advice

I shouldn't have to write this down, but I will anyway: A coach is not your doctor/psychiatrist (even if they happen to hold a medical degree, your relationship is that of coach/client, not doctor/patient. If you need medical advice, please do not rely on a coach and seek out a licensed medical professional for further diagnosis, treatment, assessment, and care.

A coach can not solve your problems for you

Hiring a coach won't magically solve all your problems. You have to want to work with the coach and follow their advice if you want to make progress (slowly, but steadily) towards solving your problems.
