So, if you don’t already know: In August of 2023, I was invited to join the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society. I accepted the invitation, and am now a lifetime member!
A few days ago, I was provided with an opportunity to attend the Honors in Action (HIA) conference in Phoenix, AZ along with some of the other members (their faces are blurred out in the photograph because I do not have their explicit permission to post their photograph publicly).

The conference itself was rather interesting. Of course you expect to learn a lout about the organization itself, and gain valuable soft-skills by virtue of being at the conference. But this is the first conference I’ve ever been to where I was asked to dance without any notice (not that I mind, since the entire everyone else who attended was dancing alongside me).
I think that for me, personally speaking, the most impactful parts of this conference happened on the 2nd day: The workshops. I was fortunate enough to attend two of them: One about diversity, and another about the EDGE trainings that are offered through PTK. These workshops were masterfully delivered by the individuals conducting them; so much so that it made me want to not only participate in them, but also conduct my own (if I’m allowed to do so).
I think joining PTK was the start of a rather surprising and exciting journey. I can’t wait to see what other opportunities present themselves for both my personal/professional growth in the future!
