Life can often be chaotic. If I was to ask a group of people if they liked surprises, I’m certain that most of them would answer “yes” to that question. However, this is clearly a lie. People like surprises that they consider pleasant. The surprises they consider unpleasant, they tend to refer to as “problems.”
I’m one of those people who’s always experienced problems in one form or another in the various domains of his life. Which is why it was somewhat surprising for me to be recognized—more than once—this last spring semester of college. Gratitude is one word that comes to mind, sure. But shock would also be an apt description considering I can’t recall ever having been acknowledged by any institution I was a part of in this manner.
Imagine my surprise when I received a certificate from the Pima Honors Program Advisory Council for outstanding academic performance. I'll add a photograph of me accepting the award on May 10, 2024.

I've never been someone who considered himself good at academic work. But I guess our perception of reality and how things really are can differ greatly sometimes.
I am grateful, and humbled. I am also inspired to continue to do my best.
